New research from AdGooroo examines Paid Search spending in the United Kingdom during the first half of this year.
From January to June 2014, advertisers spent a total of £783 million on Desktop/Tablet Paid Search advertising, not counting Mobile Search or Product Listing Ads. The vast majority of the Paid Search advertising expenditure—£742 million—went to U.K. Google AdWords, with an additional £41 million going to the U.K. Yahoo! Bing Network. According to proprietary AdGooroo data, the Cost-Per-Click (CPC) on U.S. AdWords text ads has increased an average of 40% across 9 major industry categories between the first quarters of 2012 and 2014. According to AdGooroo’s database of search advertising activity, over 1.5 million companies advertised on search engines in the US in December. It is not surprising to note that a majority of these firms used Google AdWords. What may be unexpected news however is that over 45% of them can now be found on Yahoo! Bing Network.
