Speedi.ly - classifying the web

Posted by Richard Stokes on November 22, 2009 to General

Speedi.ly is an spiffy looking new technology for classifying web pages on the fly and without human intervention. From TechCrunch:

"What does Speedi.ly do? One thing, very well and at scale. Speedi.ly takes a piece of content, or grabs the content from a URL, and analyzes it. It does this very fast and it outputs some key data. Speedi.ly tells you the language of the content, categorizes it (topics, keywords), and additional metadata."

This is very similar (in concept) to how contextual advertising networks figure out what ads to place on a page. We can't wait to see it in action - it may even prove useful in our new Display Insight service.
